Day 19: blocks

Sorry for the delay. Once we had footings I started building forms for the foundation walls. Then I had nightmares about everything that could go wrong with that 7-yard pour. So I changed course, ordered a truck load of blocks and mortar, and got busy with that instead. A lot of work but easier to make many little corrections. After three days of laying blocks 2 of 4 pallets are almost gone. Slow but steady that's my motto.

Day 21: blocking

After two more days of laying blocks about 3 of 4 pallets are emptied. I'm not really in a hurry, making good progress, and getting a lot of exercise. Who could ask for anything more.

From this angle those blocks really help show how that corner drops into a bit of a hole. Hopefully I'll have enough fill...

Day 23: blocked

The last block was set today.

Here are some stats. There were 432 blocks weighing about 35 pounds each. I also used twenty 60-pound bags of mortar mix. Spread over 7 days that averages well over a ton per day. Not too shabby.
