Since it took a week to lay the blocks, the first ones were strong enough to start back filling. The old stoop contributed some fill material in a more friendly size once dispatched with a sledge hammer.
The piles are gone! Good soil helped landscape the deep corner. Clay, rocks and concrete helped bring the interior close to target grade. That took half a week but it's just as well. The anchors needed some cure days before framing anyway.
